A nationwide campaign to eradicate hepatitis through awareness, prevention, diagnosis, treatment

Union minister of state for health and family welfare Ashwini Kumar Chaubey said that hepatitis control programs like free diagnosis, treatment and medicines are being implemented in few states including Maharashtra India and the campaign will be launched in all the rest of the states very soon. India is leading the world in achieving the goal of eradication of hepatitis by up to eight treatments. Mr. Choubey said that a nationwide campaign has been initiated through awareness, prevention, diagnosis and treatment for this purpose.

He further said that under the Hepatitis Control Program in the state recently, senior cine actor Amitabh Bachchan said that he himself was suffering from hepatitis and said that he was more sensitive to the patients. The union government has been trying to relieve hepatitis in the country and the initiative taken by the government of Maharashtra is commendable.
Hepatitis control picture exhibition and hepatitis training model center were also inaugurated on this occasion. Also, a program management system has been made to preserve the information of patients and the services provided to them in the Hepatitis Control Program and its information book has been unveiled at the hands of dignitaries.

Director of medical education department Dr. Tatyarao Lahane, World health organization representative Henk Bekedam along with senior officials of the concern departments of union government and state Government were also present on this occasion.
