At least two policemen were killed and 17 others injured on Friday when an over speeding truck rammed into a police van near Belpahar in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district.
The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief over the demise of two policemen. He announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the next of the kin of deceased and free medical treatment for the injured.
“CM @Naveen_Odisha expressed deep grief over the death of two jawans of OSAP 2nd battalion in a road accident & announced ex-gratia ₹5 lakh each, for next of the kin of deceased. He announced free medical treatment for the injured & will be visiting them at Burla Hospital today,” chief minister’s office tweeted.
