Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) support network and arrested five persons, including two Pakistani operatives, in a major counter-terrorism operation.

J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat said: “You can run, but you can’t hide.”

Police said the two Pakistani militants, identified as Hurera alias Abdullah alias Abu Hureira and Usman alias Khubaib, had allegedly been operating in the Kashmir Valley for several years while maintaining a network of safe houses and financial channels.

Three Srinagar residents — Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid Bhat and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama — were also arrested for allegedly working as over-ground workers (OGWs) by providing shelter, food and logistical support.

Officials said the arrests followed an intelligence-based operation led by Srinagar Police with support from central agencies.

Police said coordinated raids were carried out at 19 locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Haryana, leading to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, four pistols and other incriminating material.

Around a dozen persons from Haryana and Rajasthan were also detained for allegedly helping a Pakistani militant attempt to flee the country, reports said

Raeports said the main accused was also involved in routing funds to support LeT activities.

Police described the operation as a major success against terror networks and said further arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
