One person was killed and three others were injured on October 16 when they were hit by Dankor-Shakur Basti passenger train at gate no 153A while crossing the railway tracks in Ghaziabad.
The incident happened between Ghaziabad and Chipyana at around 8 am when a group of four people were trying to cross the tracks when the point was closed for traffic.
“The incident happened between Ghaziabad and Chipyana. The gate was closed and they were trying to cross from beneath it. All the injured are being treated at Civil Hospital Ghaziabad,” Northern Railway spokesperson Deepak Kumar said.
Kumar added, “They failed to cross over as swiftly as they expected and instead were hit by the train.”
The three other injured persons have been admitted to Ghaziabad’s MMG Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
Between September 2017 and August 2018, there have been five accidents at manned level crossings which have led to six deaths.
