US tops in coronavirus cases in world, surpasses China, Italy

The United States has surpassed China with the highest number of coronavirus cases around the world.

Over 83,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the US.

However, the death toll due to COVID-19 in the country is still lower than China.

New York City is among the worst-hit cities due to COVID-19.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said, “We want to see a reduction in rate of increase of spread. That’s the first sign of progress. We are doing everything possible to slow the spread while adding hospital capacity. Our goal is to have a 1000+ overflow facility in every county.”

“New York is doing more tests, now up to 18,650 tests per day. 25% of all tests in the country have been done in New York. We need to find the positives to help stop the spread,” he added.

US President Donald Trump thanked American People for continuing to practice social distancing. “By staying home, you are saving lives,” he said.

As per the data, coronavirus related deaths worldwide have surpassed 20000.
