New Delhi, Feb 6 (PTI): A group of students today protested outside the Sri Ram College of Commerce here for hosting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
The protesters belonging to unions affiliated to Left and other political parties raised slogans against Modi and the institution for inviting him to address the students.
Members of the Democratic Students Union marched from the Faculty of Arts of the Delhi University to Sri Ram College of Commerce in protest against Modi’s visit.
I am a regular Tehelka reader and a life long lefty. I heard that speech and its a game changer in Indian politics. Is this all the response you could come up with? Not even an attempt at an assessment?
Tehelka knows the true background of the preparation of the ‘game changer’ speech. Hence does not deserve any assessment. Tanja, Please try to get more enlightened and come to centre if left is not helping you to adapt to 21st century civilization.

I am sad that Tehelka just saw protests.
Indian English media fools itself with the so-called secularism addage. Many are shamelessly and openly pro Congress. It is no surprise then that Tehelka could not analyse the contents of Modi’s speech. Media groups that tend to engage in sensatiinal reporting usually end up on an intellectually shallow path.
talking about development reminds me of Hitler. Hitler brought Germany out of financial crisis and economy grew by leaps and bounds. Germans were never happier and more prosperous. But what was the cost ? 6 millions Jews exterminated systematically. Its an appeal to sane human minds, please stop supporting a mass murderer in the name of development.
Please don’t compare Modi with Hitler. Modi is an advocate of Hindutva which is all inclusive. Islam and Christianity are exclusivist and expansionist ideologies that have used violence to propagate themselves. All they (Islam and Christianity) are based on is blind faith. Hinduism is based on a balance of faith and reason. Hindutva is the essence of Hinduism.
I agree, Muneer Alam, we must look at Modi for what he is, and not be fooled by the pretty words and false promises.
Mass murderers are the Arabs, Mughals, Spaniards and English who came to my motherland and raped and pillaged. Equally guilty are those who speak favourably and falsely of the legacies of these foreign forces. The English are the only ones who can claim to have done some positive things in India though profit for England (through East India Company) was their real motive. The other foreigners brought only misery and forced alien religions onto people of this land. The Muslims started the Godra affair by burning Hindus alive and then they got killed in revenge. Millions of Hindus have been killed in or chased away from Kashmir since independence under Congress’ watch yet some people don’t seem to be calling those responsible murderers. Thousands of Sikhs were killed by ignorant Hindus with the encouragement of Congress yet the media is shamelessly making attempts to hide this fact. This is bloody insanity. If anything, Modi will bring about a strong India and not a wimpy nation it is under the Congress. Pakistanis can severe the head of and kill Indian soldiers and look at what Congress’ response is. Vote bank is more important than motherland for many it seems.
You call Modi mass murderer but don’t mention the community that started the killing. Also you don’t mention the mass killing of Sikhs by Congress goons.
Guys,y are we fighting among ourselves for these corrupted leaders?
We must be united and think as an Indian….who-so-ever does good for our country should be humbly respected be it be congress or Modi
