Rewari gang rape case: One person arrested by SIT

In the latest development in the brutal sexual assault of a 19-year-old girl in Haryana’s Rewari, one person has been taken into custody by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Sunday. The team, who is investigating the Rewari gangrape case is headed by Mewat Superintendent of Police (SP) Naazneen Bhasin.

The person arrested today has been identified as Deendayal, the owner of the place where the 19-year-old woman was gangraped on September 12, said reports.

He is accused of renting the place to his friends where the teenager was gangraped and was also aware that the crime was being perpetrated there. Deendayal was taken into custody for interrogation.

Meanwhile, the three main accused, Manish, Nishu and Pankaj – a defence personnel stationed in Rajasthan were identified by the SIT on Saturday, are yet to be held.

According to the neighbours from the same village the main accused in the Rewari gang-rape case was trained by victim’s father to get into the Army.  As, victim’s father train many men from the village for free to get into the Army.

The mother of victim claimed that some officials had approached her on Saturday with compensatory cheques, but she returned it as her family wants justice not money.

On September 12, a 19-year-old CBSE topper was kidnapped in broad daylight in Haryana before she was allegedly gang-raped by a dozen men in Haryana’s Mahendargarh district, her family lodged a written complaint at a police station in Rewari on the same day.

The sexual assault has left the CBSE topper in a state of physical and mental trauma, with her condition being monitored at the district hospital in Rewari.
