President Kovind unveils portrait of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament

A portrait of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was unveiled at the Central Hall of Parliament on Tuesday by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Speaker Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister addressed the gathering on the occasion.

Modi said, “Now on, Atal Vajpayee will be forever in the Parliament’s Central Hall, inspiring us and blessing us. If we start talking about the goodness of Vajpayee, it will take hours and hours. Vajpayee had a long political career, a large part of that career was spent in Opposition. Yet, he continued raising issues of public interest and never ever deviated from his ideology. There was power in Vajpayee’s speech and there was equal power in his silence. His communication skills were unparalleled. He had a great sense of humour.”
