Odisha: 12 dead as bus falls from bridge in Cuttack

In a tragic incident, at least 12 people died and several others injured after a bus fell from Mahanadi bridge near Jagatpur in Odisha’s Cuttack on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the driver of the bus lost control when the buffalo came in front of it, following which it veered off and plunged off the bridge.

Sources said, some passengers were seriously injured in the accident.

Odisha chief minister Navin Patnaik expressed grief over the demise of passengers in the accident. He directed minister Chandra Sarathi to rush to the spot and ensure treatment for injured and also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased, as well as free treatment to those injured.
