NIA raids in UP, Punjab over ISIS-inspired module probe

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out raids in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Punjab in connection with the investigation of the recently registered case of ISIS-inspired module.  

The searches were carried out at seven places in western UP and Punjab.

On December 26, NIA arrested ten persons after they raided 16 locations in New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The arrested men were planning to launch terror attacks targeting some political personalities, security establishments, as well as crowded places.

During the December raids, the NIA had recovered nearly 25 kilos of explosive material used to make bombs, mobile phones, SIM cards, alarm clocks, pistols, laptops and many more electronic gadgets.
