Mumbai: Unknown odour reported across city, fire engines rushed to find source

Citizens from various parts of Mumbai late on Thursday night complained of an unknown odour after which fire engines mobilized at various places to find out source of leakage, officials said.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said late Thursday that the odour was reported from several suburban areas.

“In order to trace the origin of the gas leak we have deployed 9 fire engines at Deonar, Mankhurd, Chembur, Vikhroli, Dindoshi, Vile Parle, Kanivali, Dahisar and Mankhurd,” BMC said.

According to the official, no injuries were reported.

BMC in a tweet said, “We have received complaints from citizens about odour of some unknown gas in eastern and western suburbs. MCGM has mobilized all concerned agencies. 9 fire engines have been mobilized at various places to find out source of leakage.”

The Mahanagar Gas Limited, which has been receiving complaints of the odour from various parts of Mumbai, has said that their emergency teams have spread out to sites from where complaints have been received. As for now they have not come across any breach in their pipeline system which could result in leakage of gas.
