The Supreme Court on Tuesday made the announcement that the floor test in Maharashtra will be conducted on Wednesday.

The floor test will ascertain whether BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis enjoys a majority, as the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress yesterday claimed that they have the numbers to form a new government.

The Court has ordered the floor test to be conducted before 5 pm tomorrow.  A protem Speaker will conduct the entire proceedings.

The court has ordered live telecast of the entire proceedings in the Maharashtra Assembly.

The voting will take place through an open ballot and not through a secret ballot. the court ordered.

The Apex Court on Sunday issued notice to Centre, Maharashtra Government, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar after hearing the petition of Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress challenging Governor’s invitation to Fadnavis to form the government in the state.

Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were sworn in by Governor Koshyari on Saturday morning after dramatic midnight developments, leading to the lifting of President’s Rule in Maharashtra.
