Kejriwal’s sit-in protest enters 4th day, TMC, others extend support

On June 14, the sit-in protest by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Ministers Satyendra Jain and Gopal Rai at Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal’s house entered the fourth day.

The AAP government was having disagreements with LG Baijal over several issues and has been demanding statehood for Delhi, which would allow the party to control over the police and land.

While saying that the protest will continue Kejriwal added “Centre is insulting the people of Delhi who elected Delhi govt. People will decide”

Opposition leader Vijender Gupta, BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, MP Parvesh Verma accompanied by AAP rebel MLA Kapil Mishra started a protest outside Delhi CM’s office on June 13.

They have occupied a waiting room at CM’S office and will continue their protest till CM Kejriwal along with other three ended theirs.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has backed the protest and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee urged the centre to resolve the problem immediately.

“Elected Chief Minister must get due respect. May I appeal to the government of India and the LG to resolve the problem immediately so that people do not suffer,” she added.

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) also extends their support to Kejriwal and RLD Vice President Jayant Chaudhary called the situation a “governance failure”.

“The officers appointed by the government are not even able to find five minutes in three days for the Chief Minister who is elected by the people? This cannot be possible without the support of the Central government,” he tweeted.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) also extends the party’s support and met senior AAP leaders to support their demand for statehood for Delhi.

RJD lawmaker Manoj Jha said, “The people of Delhi deserve better than a handicapped government and a truncated verdict. Delhi’s mandate must be respected.”
