Police has booked several people in Kashmir for violating lockdown and organizing congregational prayers  on Friday.

The lockdown, however, has been largely successful in the Valley with people staying indoors. Considering the Valley had just emerged from a six month long siege following revocation of Article 370 in August last, another lockdown is taking a heavy toll on the local economy. But COVID-19 healthcare has left no option for the people but to stay at home.

However, in some places, people have violated the lockdown by offering prayers at mosques, more so, on Friday.

There were prayers at a mosque in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and South Kashmir’s Shopian. Police has filed FIR against organizers of prayers at both the places. Similarly police has also arrested six people from Hajin.

In some parts of Kashmir, police took action against the youth playing on the roads or in playgrounds.
