All eleven family members of several police officers kidnapped on Thursday evening by terrorists in south Kashmir have been released on Friday evening, after the Jammu and Kashmir Police, according to sources, silently released around a dozen family members of terrorists.

According to sources Jammu and Kashmir police also released father of a Hizbul Mujahideen commander they had arrested two days back.

Assadullah Naikoo, father of the Hizbul Operational Commander Riyaz Naikoo was released after the latter issued a warning that henceforth the militants would follow “an eye for an eye policy”.  Assadullah was arrested from Pulwama district.

Riyaz Naikoo, in a statement released on social media on Friday, said, that the police had compelled the militants to act against families because the police had arrested a non-combatant relative of a militant.

His statement came after militants in south Kashmir abducted eleven relatives of policemen in vengeance.
