Jammu and Kashmir: 11 injured in grenade attack at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk

Eleven people were injured including seven security personnel and four civilians in a grenade attack at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Sunday evening.

Militants hurled a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party near Palladium lane in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar.

As per sources, Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier in the day, five militants were killed in a gunfight which broke out between security forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. 

The security forces had cordoned the Kellam Devsar area in Kulgam following specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

As the search operations were underway in the area, the militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
