India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 39,980, Death toll at 1,301

COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 39,980 with 1,301 fatalities. There are 28,046 active cases while 10,632 have been cured/discharged, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

Maharashtra has highest COVID-19 cases – 12,296, followed by Gujarat – 5,054, Delhi – 4,122, Madhya Pradesh – 2,846 and Rajasthan – 2,770.

Prime Minister Modi held a meeting to discuss strategies to discuss interventions in the financial sector as well structural reforms to spur growth and welfare in the current context. 

At a meeting with Finance Minister and officials, PM discussed strategies and interventions to support MSMEs and farmers, enhance liquidity and strengthen credit flows.  PM also discussed ways and means to ensure financial stability in the wake of COVID-19 and measures taken to enable businesses to recover quickly from the impacts. 

The virus which was first originated from China’s Wuhan has infected more than 30 lakh people globally and over 2 lakh people have lost their lives.
