India records 19,906 COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, tally over 5.28 lakh

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 5,28,859 as it recorded 19,906 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 16,095 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

There are 2,03,051 active cases while 3,09,712 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,59,133 with 7,273 fatalities.

Delhi has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 80,188 with 2,558 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu – 78,335 cases and 1,025 deaths, Gujarat – 30,709 cases and 1,789 fatalities.

A total of 82,27,802 samples have been tested so far of which 2,31,095 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
