Global coronavirus cases surpass 5 million

The novel coronavirus cases surpassed 5 million mark globally, with over 3.2 lakh fatalities

The United States is the hardest-hit by the global pandemic with more than 1.5 million cases and nearly 93,000 deaths, while the UK has the second-highest death toll with over 35,000, followed by Italy with more than 32,000 fatalities.

Brazil has surpassed Germany, France and the UK to become the third-largest hit by pandemic globally, behind the United States and Russia.

The virus which was first originated in China’s Wuhan has spread to at least 196 countries.
