Flight operations were disrupted on Monday due to heavy rain and poor visibility at the Mumbai airport.

A spokesperson for the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) said that on account of low visibility, there were no flight movements. However, no flights had been cancelled, three flights were diverted to other airports till now.

“Due to heavy rains, visibility at the airport is fluctuating. No cancellation so far but three diversions took place,” the spokesperson said.

Huge parts of the city and suburbs were lashed with heavy rain since early Monday morning.

Heavy spells last week hit the air, road and rail traffic, forcing the authorities to declare July 2 as a public holiday.
