‘Expecting high-quality debates’, says PM Modi as Parliament’s winter session kicks off

The winter session of parliament started today. Several bills are scheduled to be presented in the parliament, including the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Ahead of start of the winter session, PM Modi said that there should be high-quality debates on all the matters. He said this is the last Parliament session of 2019 of the Rajya Sabha. “During this session, on 26th, we will observe the Constitution Day, when our Constitution completes its 70 years,” he added.

“May the Winter Session of Parliament be a productive one,” Modi tweeted.

On Sunday, Modi hoped for a constructive Parliament session.  “Had an extensive meeting with the @BJP4India Parliamentary Party. Our Party will utilise the upcoming Parliamentary session to further our views on various developmental issues and contribute to transforming people’s lives,” PM Modi tweeted after an all-party meeting ahead of the session.

“Had a very good NDA meeting. Our alliance represents India’s diversity and the aspirations of 130 crore Indians. Together, we will leave no stone unturned in ushering a qualitative change in the lives of our farmers, youngsters, Nari Shakti and the poorest of the poor,” he added.

He further said, “Attended the All-Party Meeting earlier today. This time, we mark the 250th session of the Rajya Sabha. In both Houses, we shall have constructive debates on ways to empower citizens and further India’s development.”
