Delhi Court to take call on January 29 on MJ Akbar’s defamation Case

A Delhi court on Tuesday reserved its order on whether to summon journalist Priya Ramani as an accused in a defamation case filed by former Union minister M J Akbar. The Court will pass its order on January 29.

The counsel of Akbar told the court that Priya Ramani had damaged Akbar’s reputation which he had built up over the years through hard work.

Ramani had accused Akbar of sexual misconduct around 20 years ago, which was denied by him. Moreover, several women came out with accounts of alleged sexual harassment by Akbar.

However, Akbar had termed the allegations were “false, fabricated and deeply distressing”. He also claimed that Ramani’s tweets in October last year had defamed him.

Akbar, who resigned as Union minister in October last year, filed a defamation case against Priya Ramani after his name cropped up on social media.
