Deep Sidhu, accused in Red Fort violence on Republic Day, arrested

Punjabi actor-activist Deep Sidhu, accused of instigating the violence on Republic Day during a farmers’ tractor rally has been arrested, police said on Tuesday. 

Delhi Police had earlier announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who can provide information on the whereabouts of Deep Sidhu.

The police had also announced Rs 1 lakh cash reward each for information on Jugraj Singh and two other associates of Deep Sidhu, who were involved in hoisting religious flags at Red Fort. Further Rs 50,000 had also been announced for Jajbir Singh, Buta Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Iqbal Singh. 

Chaos unfolded on Republic Day as protesting farmers broke through barriers, fought with police and hoisted a religious flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
