Bombay high court reserves order on Rhea Chakraborty and Showik’s bail application

Bombay high court on Tuesday reserved its order on the bail application of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik in a drugs case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had filed an affidavit before the HC on Monday opposing the bail application of the siblings, NCB in its affidavit said that both Rhea and Showik are “active members of a drug syndicate that was connected with high society personalities and drug suppliers.”

Rhea and Showik’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde had told the HC that the drugs case, in which Rhea and Showik are accused and currently in jail, should have been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Maneshinde further said that NCB has no jurisdiction in this case as per orders of Supreme Court.

Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB on September 8 for her alleged involvement in a drugs case linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Her judicial custody was extended till October 6 by a special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court.
