BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa stakes claim to form government, swearing-in at 6 pm

The BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa on Friday said that he met Governor Vajubhai Vala and staked claim to form government in Karnataka and would take oath as chief minister in the evening around 6 pm.

“Just now I met the Governor, I will take oath as Chief Minister today around 6 pm,” Yeddyurappa said.

A group of Karnataka BJP leaders yesterday met Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed the future course of action.

Two days after the collapse of the Congress-JDS ministry, Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar had disqualified three rebel MLAs under the anti-defection law.

Former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday lost the trust vote and the Congress-JD(S) coalition government collapsed in the Assembly. BJP defeated the coalition government by 105-99 votes in the floor test after a long intense power struggle in the Karnataka assembly.
