Biggest single-day spike of 40,425 COVID-19 cases take India’s tally to over 11 lakh

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 1,11,8043 as it recorded 40,425 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 27,497 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

There are 3,90,459 active cases while 7,00086 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 3,10,455 with 11,854 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,70,693 with 2,481 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,22,793 and 3,628 deaths, Karnataka – 63,772 with 1,331 deaths, Andhra Pradesh – 49,650 and 642 deaths, Uttar Pradesh – 49,247 and 1,146 deaths and Gujarat – 48,355 and 2,142 fatalities

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Monday said a total of 1,40,47,908 samples have been tested up to July 19 of which 2,56,039 samples were tested yesterday.
