Several agitators, including historian Ramchandra Guha were detained in Bengaluru, Karnataka and other parts of Country for protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Guha was participating in a protest at the Town Hall in the city where Section 144 or a ban on large gatherings was enforced last evening ahead of today’s protests.

As protests heated up in parts of Delhi, the government authorities have asked telecommunication companies to suspend voice, data and internet services in some areas as a precautionary measure.

Airtel has confirmed that voice, internet services were disrupted as per directives from the government.

Sixteen metro stations were shut in the national Capital.

Police across the country moved in to control protesters as large gatherings were banned in many cities to prevent any trouble.

Enormous traffic jams were reported from several areas, including Delhi-Gurugram border, as police put up barricades to maintain law and order.
